I saw the horses for this race in the Mounting Yard and Capitalist just made a low 98% as fitness just down a dab, but his blood count was further down. Trainers said he was not fit enough, and right, so don't discard him yet and blown out to $11 for the slipper.
Weatherly, the much sprooked horse following his 99% fit win at Flemington had a bad day at the office.
Slow to tack on, went wide and struggled to finish off the race because of his lower fitness levels of 97%.
His fitness and blood count is fine, but it his strength factors, down up to 10kg in body weight from Flemington that had him struggling over the last 300 metres. Top horse just poor fitness training on Saturday. Can improve 3 lengths easily if they increase his strength factors.
Two talented horses not to dump yet.....jim
Capitalist showing muscle soreness

Former Golden Slipper favourite Capitalist is receiving treatment for muscle soreness in his back but co-trainer Peter Snowden says he has no lameness.
Capitalist was beaten as the odds-on favourite in Saturday's Todman Stakes after which Racing NSW chief vet Craig Suann said he was showing mild lameness in his forelegs.
Snowden said the colt trotted and cantered on Monday morning and he was confident Capitalist would not miss any work in the lead-up to the $3.5 million Slipper on Saturday week.
Stewards said Capitalist would still have to undergo an inspection before the race.
