Hi Steve,

If I call I like the top line some days up to 95% of the time the winner will come from there and you can use as

bankers.

If I call I like the fitter horses or value bet, I think it is in the first 7 horses and maybe rove 1 or 2 that you like.

Generally the pay well as the fav/s are not that strong or have a fitness edge over others, many chanes.

I generally don’t bet with the other horses, unless you like something to put in bottom lines of the tri or pick 4.

You can't take them all.

Cheers Jim

Hi Jim,

If you have 1 or 2 on top line and say 4 on second line and say 10 on third line. If I want to just bet tri / first

4. do I take the top line as the wins , the second line to run 2/3rd and the field to 3rd ????

Do you back all the the horses on the top line for wins???

Beer looks to Sydney with Jacqui's Joy

Greater prize money in Sydney and a lack of numbers has made the decision to take Jacqui's Joy to Randwick an easy one for Victorian training partners Mitchell Beer and Max Hinton.

Jacqui's Joy snapped a year-long winless run at Sandown a week ago and she will be sent to Sydney to run in Saturday's DX Solutions Handicap (1600m) for fillies and mares.

She was also nominated for the same grade and distance at Moonee Valley.

The Randwick race worth $100,000 attracted nine nominations and seven acceptors while the $60,000 Moonee Valley event had 30 nominations.

Beer said taking the mare to Sydney to race for near-stakes level money in a rating-78 against her own sex was "a bit of a no-brainer".

"We've been keeping a close eye on Sydney nominations and acceptances over the last month," Beer said.

"Obviously they've had a great prize money increase, running for $100,000 on Saturday, and there's just a real lack of numbers in Sydney at the moment.

"There were nine nominations and seven acceptances. She was nominated for the exact same rating and distance race on Saturday at Moonee Valley worth $60,000 and they had 30 nominations.

"So it was pretty easy for us to make our mind up."

From next month, two-year-old and three-year-old races and open handicaps at metropolitan Saturday meetings in Melbourne will increase to $100,000.

Formerly trained in New Zealand, Jacqui's Joy won her first three Australian starts last summer as a three-year-old but recorded only one placing in nine subsequent starts until breaking through at Sandown last Wednesday.

"We've been happy with her the whole way through but we'd been scratching our heads as to why she hadn't won for a while," Beer said.

"Last start just cemented that there is nothing wrong and she's going as good as she ever has."

Wins a double today at Sandown, nice call, Jim

I think legendary trainer Lee Freedman is on the comeback now.

Previously his horses had low blood counts, good strength factors and average fitness.

Then he went to good blood counts, great fitness and low strength factors.

Now his horses are not weakening the last 150 and finishing off their races stronger thanks to

a better balanced fitness levels.

I think he was leaving his good runs on the trial track 7 days before the race.

He has risen from 95% fit up now to 97%/98% fit, and with ordinary horses mind you.

If you have jumped off the wagon, maybe time to put him back in your multiples.

Price's Flying colts fresh for autumn

Caulfield trainer Mick Price expects the unusually light spring campaigns enjoyed by his super three-year-old colts Flying Artie and Extreme Choice will reap the ultimate benefits in the major autumn sprint races in Melbourne and Sydney.

Price said on Monday that both colts were afforded the chance to continue to grow over the spring and the physical results are immediately obvious.

"I think that's the benefit of only having two runs in the spring because when they are spring three-year-old colts, they are still growing and if you have a long spring it's a very short turnaround to the autumn and we've got some big goals in front of them," he said.

Price said his Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Flying Artie would be set for the Lightning Stakes/Newmarket Handicap/TJ Smith Stakes Group 1 treble after thriving during his summer break.

"He's great," Price said.

"He's made a physical progression from the sprint to the autumn and I think he's a big track horse."

Victory in one or more of the sprints is likely to elevate Flying Artie to the position of the world's leading sprinter as at a current rating of 120, he is only two ratings points behind the established star sprinter Chautauqua.

Extreme Choice is not as tall as Flying Artie but he too filled out over the summer break and Price said he thought he too could add to his Group 1 Moir Stakes victory in the spring.

Flying Jess at $81, wins the Guineas at the Gold Coast and interesting to listen to the trainer or owner after the race,

quoting Flying Jesst was the 3rd best qualifield horse for the race, yet they bet 100/1.

Amazing.

The previously one start one win, much touted horse FROM WITHIN was 2nd up

in the Gold Coast feature on Saturday and rated LOW 96% unfit, not fit and sweating up.

In typical 2nd up fitness ratings he failed to do anything and more than likely will be spelled.

A strong type of horse, we won’t scrub him off our black booker list yet, but you may have to wait

3 months to get on next start.

Too big an ask by the trainer who could not deliver.

2 unfit favourites were in serious trouble before the race and punters lost mega millions

at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

I rate 2 unfit favourites, both lost and punters got sucked in to losing their pants.

One was the long odds on chance Winning Rupert on $1.65 and was up distance, like most

horses; but on low 97% fit because his blood count levels were down, it had little chance because of

low oxygen levels to carry the running to victory over 1400m; saw it was a big risk before the

race and in serious trouble.

It weakened badly over the last 150 because it ran out of fuel in its lungs to keep going.

The second horse was Lucky Hussler at $3.40 rated ONLY 95%, this horse had no hope

and they are still looking for it; once again punters lost millions on an unfit favourite.

*****All these unfit favourites, pre-race; will be called in our new free software out soon.

Gold Coast on a world stage and flopped.

There was a lot of interest in the Gold Coast meeting and the management flopped badly in

presentation in the mounting yards and looked really shabby.

The grass was not mowed and also the edges were not whipper snipped, looks shocking.
